Popcorn Will Be Involved

Written by Ann on Friday, March 28th, 2008 in Conversations, Marriage.

I called Jim to the dinner table and realized that I’d forgotten to make the salad. I placed the oil and red wine vinegar on the table but just forgot to actually make the salad. Senior moment, I guess. On top of that, Jake found himself completely out of red wine. Nice dinner, but it could have been improved.

We’re having friends over for dinner tomorrow night, so I hope that I do better…

Well, we are off to the grocery store, then we’ll cuddle on the sofa for another exciting evening in our household. I’m sure that popcorn will be involved.

Bring Me a Dream

Wow, just before it was time to get into the kitchen and rattle those pots and pans, I was struck with sudden sleepiness. That means no wine for me! I managed to prepare dinner and all was well, but I sure could use a nap.

Jake is sitting next to me at his computer, with some great oldies tunes playing. With that and the fatigue, I’m having a heck of a time concentrating, but now I want to sing!

Mr. Sandman,
bring me a dream
Make him the cutest
that Ive ever seen
Give him two lips
like roses and clover
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over.

When it comes to clothing and make-up, we tend to fall into particular patterns by our mid-twenties. We’ve decided which clothes look best on us and we’ve perfected our hair and make-up. We know what works and we stick to it. And that is precisely the problem. We go through our thirties and well into our forties, failing to notice that our appearance has changed in subtle — and not so subtle ways. What once worked simply doesn’t anymore. Fear not, for help is on the way!

It Is What It Is

I love Friday! End of the work week and all that. We were looking forward to sprucing up our large yard this weekend, but the weather has other plans.

Jake enjoyed the aroma of dinner cooking before he ever even made it to the kitchen. I made chicken breasts with fennel, garlic and rosemary, along with stir-fry mixed vegetables. The smells filled the house and the colors made for a beautiful presentation. Great dinner.

You Two Deserve Each Other!

With wine glass in hand, Jim danced his way to the kitchen table. His eyes lit up when he saw pork ribs on his plate. He’s not a difficult man to please. Good food and good love is all he asks, though not necessarily in that order.

Politics Can be Bad for Digestion

Written by Ann on Tuesday, March 11th, 2008 in Conversations.

Great tilapia and veggies tonight. I experimented a little with my cooking, as I am prone to do right after an MS exacerbation. I was really feeling good today! I even indulged in a glass of pino grigio, which was oh, so lovely.

I accidentally forgot to turn on the music for dinner tonight, and the evening news droned on from the living room. Politics can definitely sour an otherwise pleasant dinner. It just doesn’t do much for the digestion.
