Customer Service Crowned King Again
Written by Ann Pietrangelo on April 21st, 2009 in Conversations.

The recession is a bad thing, but that doesn’t mean that a good thing can’t come out of it.
Change is in the air… attitudes are different, and as far as customer service goes, it’s all for the better.
Have you noticed it, too? It’s in the friendly greeting with a smile as you enter a business these days. It’s in the offer to assist, the light-hearted banter, the thank you as you leave. No longer looking elsewhere as we patronize their businesses, they make direct eye contact. Gone is the arrogance that came with consumer-based economy and find they must actively solicit our business and make an effort to keep us coming back.
I wouldn’t wish the bad economy on any business owner, but I am thrilled to see customer service back in its rightful place in the priority list. I just hope that when the economy bounces back, that we won’t return to business as usual.

This is so true – I have noticed it too. I don’t think people take business for granted any more – this has to be a good thing.

I doubt this attitude will stay. I was a customer service rep for 18yrs, you really CARE about people or you don’t. I hope I’m wrong.

Diane, I think you may be right, but I sincerely hope you are wrong.
